  • 2010 – 2013

Film Works was a marketing campaign that educated the public on the economic and cultural importance of the film industry in both Los Angeles and California.

    PLANNING

    • Secured broad financial and in-kind support offers from individuals and businesses in the industry and developed relationships with industry vendors that persist to today.
    • Achieved high levels of campaign visibility and created a platform for direct advocacy by leveraging City and County endorsements, paid donations and in-kind support.
    • Focused heavily on out of home and vehicle based advertising.

    Phase I

    • Debuted with a high-profile launch event attended by LA City and County officials.
    • Outdoor media placements, valued at approximately a quarter million dollars (paid and in-kind) included 80 billboards, 500 sidewalk poster installations and 400 street pole banner installations.
    • Introduced new website and social media channels, attracting thousands of regular readers, publishing more than 100 in-depth articles and business profiles, circulating more than two dozen social shareables and distributing thousands of dollars worth of branded merchandise to campaign supporters.
    • Recorded a PSA in collaboration with Shoot Movies in California.

    Phase II

    • Organized statewide, grassroots support for AB 1839 to expand the California Film & Television Tax Credit Program.
    • Shifted the campaign focus online and to social media.
    • Adopted a new statewide focus and rallying cry, “Keep Filming in California” to advance a bigger cause
    • Licensed the brand for use in advocacy across the state.
    • Provided a theme for rallies held in Sun Valley, San Francisco and Sacramento.
    • Collected 22,000 signatures in support of legislation to make California more competitive.

  • LA Loves Film: Returning in 2026

With on-location filming near all-time lows, job insecurity in the creative sector has never been a more urgent, region-wide concern. LA Loves Film aims at promoting a more film friendly LA through inclusive community dialogue.

    KEY MESSAGES

    • Greater Los Angeles is the film, television and commercial production capital of the world. The region is rightly celebrated for its creative economy and workforce. Filming is welcome here.
    • Filming happens every day in neighborhoods where Angelenos live and work, and for that reason it should always be conducted with professionalism, courtesy and respect.

We are Angelenos working together to protect creative livelihoods and sustain filming’s future in our community. Join us in our efforts to keep film jobs in Los Angeles!

    KEY AUDIENCES

    • Pro-filming, industry-affiliated residents who are active in neighborhood associations and citizen government, including HOA and Neighborhood Council representatives.
